- Motivation of the Reserch:
Don't you wonder how do we detect the spatial properties ( direction, distance,
spaciousness ... ) of sound in three-dimensional space with only two ears?
This simple question is the origin of the laboratory.
We are trying to realize the recognition, transmission, reproduction and
creation of 3-D sound space by clarifying auditory mechanisms for spatial
perception
- Reserch Themes:
1) Investigation on mechanisms for sptial perception (direction, distance,
spaciousness, and so on)
2) Development of the system for recognition, transmission, reproduction
and creation of 3-D sound space
3) Buiding an authoring system for the composition of 3-D music
- Expected Applications of Research Activities:
1) 3-D Space Reprduction: audio equipment, mobile phone, PC, TV, ..
2) 3-D Space Transmission: ultra realistic communication system ...
3) 3-D Space Recognition: robot, security sensor, car, hearing aids, ...
4) 3-D Authoring System: music composition, sound contents creation, ...
